Temple Life

Oddly enough, we never questioned why we were up at 4am this morning, hiking a mountain, Buddhist chants and a lone drum guiding the way. And we didn’t think about it yesterday when were raking leaves with a bunch of Korean high school kids who did not want to be raking leaves. We certainly didn’t think about it when we were shimmying around the rock face to see the 9th century carving or kicking things.

I guess you would say we’re at Korea’s version of Shaolin Temple. There are Buddhist monks that do a martial art called Sunmudo living here. They are feeding us well and letting us listen to them chant and teaching us to stretch and kick and punch and meditate. It’s pretty sweet. Not much wi-fi, though. Another picture and we’ll see you later.
